Educational, Short Films, Special Interest, Sports, PG-13, 17-Nov-2023
Double Tan Sau and Double Man Sau Cycle – Force Control and Symmetry
Lesson 19 introduces one of the most fundamental cycles in Wing Chun wooden dummy training: the Double Tan Sau and Double Man Sau drill. This powerful sequence focuses on symmetrical arm coordination and force direction, providing essential training in both pressure control and spatial awareness.
🥋 Key Concepts Covered:
• Both arms perform the same technique simultaneously, issuing force in the same direction
• Practitioners will experience two opposing forces:
o Spreading force moving outward
o Squeezing force moving inward
This dynamic interplay trains your ability to feel, balance, and issue pressure with precision during contact.
🔄 Drills Included in Lesson 19:
1. Double Man Sau transfer – both arms moving above the dummy arms
2. Double Tan Sau transfer – both arms moving underneath the dummy arms
3. Force cycling drill – integrating inward and outward pressure mechanics
Note: This lesson does not include stepping or body turning, allowing practitioners to focus purely on hand positioning, arm engagement, and force redirection. This lesson helps you refine your tactile control, structure, and force dynamics—key skills for building a stable foundation in close-range Wing Chun application.
