MOOK YAN JONG SINGLE ARM LESSON 6
Educational, Short Films, Special Interest, Sports, PG-13, 13-Nov-2023
Introducing cycle of Tan Sau, Jut Sau, and Man Sau in coordination with stepping and turning. Through this kind of practice we are doing very fine cultivation and refining of stepping, turning, and keeping dynamic balance. Transitions have to be smooth, with strength and pliability present in wrists. Density of “energy transfer “in points of contact should have tactile acuteness and fluidity. All those lessons will increase your “tactile perception “for amount of energy injection into points of contact and direction of that energy. In this lesson I will introduce idea of, “floor chi sao.” We are in contact with dummy arms with our wrists, forearms, and palms, on other end we are in contact with floor through our feet. We are constantly moving and adjusting between these two ends; floor and dummy arms. We need to have tactile sense in our palms, wrists, and forearms for angles, connections, and degree of pressure we apply on dummy arms. We also need to have tactile sense in our feet for angles, distribution of balance and weight. It is never ending process of refinement between these two ends. We need to learn how to utilize the floor.
